NEW EQUIPMENT FOR POLLEN ANALYSIS WITHIN THE ALLERSHIELD PROJECT

The Institute for Protection and Ecology of the Republic of Srpska has acquired a new BestScope BS-3036A3 trinocular stereo microscope within the project AllerShield – Strengthening Crossborder Solutions for Managing Allergenic Plants and Enhancing Climate Resilience, funded under the Interreg IPA CBC Bosnia and Herzegovina – Croatia – Montenegro programme.

This modern laboratory equipment enables detailed and three-dimensional observation of pollen grains and other microscopic particles, significantly improving the Institute’s capacity to conduct analyses related to environmental allergens. With a total magnification range from 6.7× to 45×, the microscope provides exceptionally clear and stable imaging, allowing for precise identification of the shape, structure, and colour of pollen from various plant species.

In addition to pollen research, the equipment will also be used for the analysis of biological and inorganic airborne particles, as well as for educational and demonstration activities within the AllerShield project. Its use will contribute to a better understanding of the distribution and seasonal dynamics of allergenic plants, as well as the development of measures to reduce the impact of climate change on allergen dispersion.

The delivery, installation, and staff training were carried out by Analitika d.o.o. Sarajevo, the authorized representative of the BestScope brand for Bosnia and Herzegovina.
