NEW BOAT FOR AQUATIC ECOSYSTEM RESEARCH

The Institute for Protection and Ecology of the Republic of Srpska has acquired a new boat intended for field activities that include ichthyofauna research, hydrobiological investigations, and water sampling.

The boat will be used during research on rivers, lakes, and reservoirs throughout the Republic of Srpska, and its use will enable the implementation of more comprehensive analyses of aquatic ecosystem conditions, biodiversity assessment, and monitoring of changes in water quality. The acquisition of this equipment represents a significant enhancement of the Institute’s technical and research capacities, especially in the field of terrain investigations that require access to hard-to-reach locations.

The boat is made of high-density polyethylene, providing exceptional stability, durability, and resistance to impacts and chemical influences. It is equipped with a four-stroke gasoline engine, as well as life vests and a complete water sampling kit, ensuring safe and efficient work of the research team in the field.

Thanks to this acquisition, the Institute will be able to conduct more detailed studies of fish populations and other aquatic organisms, as well as to implement monitoring programs in accordance with national and European environmental standards. Improved mobility and access to various types of water bodies will contribute to faster data collection, higher precision in analyses, and overall better-quality scientific research.

The new boat will be used within several ongoing and future projects of the Institute related to the protection of aquatic ecosystems, assessment of ichthyofauna status, and improvement of natural resource management.
