PARTICIPATION OF OUR RESEARCHERS IN THE RES2FIRE CONFERENCE IN TIRANA
Representatives of the Institute for Protection and Ecology of the Republic of Srpska, Dr. Zoran Popović and Dr. Srđan Šabić, participated in the RES2FIRE project conference, held on September 23, 2025, in Tirana, Albania.
The conference brought together partners and experts from several countries with the aim of exchanging experiences and improving methods for protecting natural areas and urban communities from wildfires. During the event, the latest technologies, models, and approaches for wildfire prevention and risk management within the framework of climate change were presented.
In addition to the main conference, our researchers actively participated in the general and technical project meetings, where they discussed key topics related to the implementation of planned activities, the development of models and tools for risk assessment, as well as measures to strengthen resilience and adaptation of communities to climate change.
The participation of the Institute in this international event confirms its commitment to strengthening scientific cooperation and contributing to the development of innovative solutions within the Interreg IPA ADRION RES2FIRE project.
RES2FIRE (Resilient Systems for Wildfire Risk Management in the Adriatic-Ionian Region) is an international project aimed at increasing the resilience of natural and urban areas to wildfires through the development of integrated systems for early warning, prevention planning, and public education. The project brings together research institutions, public organizations, and experts from several countries in the region.
The Institute for Protection and Ecology of the Republic of Srpska is the project lead for Bosnia and Herzegovina, responsible for developing and applying risk assessment models, educating local communities, and contributing to the creation of guidelines for sustainable wildfire risk management in the region.
