History

The Public Scientific Research Institution "Institute for Protection and Ecology of the Republic of Srpska," Banja Luka (formerly the Scientific Institution "Institute for Protection, Ecology, and Informatics, Scientific Research Institute," Banja Luka), was established in 1976. The founder of the Institute is the Government of the Republic of Srpska, acting on behalf of the Republic of Srpska. By a decision of the Ministry of Science and Technology in 2001, the Institute was registered in the Register of Scientific Research Institutions as a public scientific research institute founded by the Republic of Srpska.

According to the Government's Decision (Founding Act): "The activities of the Institute are of general and specific social interest, ensuring the fulfillment of the rights and obligations of legal and physical entities, as well as the realization of other legally prescribed interests in the fields of environmental protection, occupational safety, and fire protection. It represents a scientific research and specialist institution in the areas of environmental protection, occupational safety, fire protection, and related fields, conducting fundamental, applied, and developmental research of strategic importance for the Republic."

The Public Scientific Research Institution "Institute for Protection and Ecology of the Republic of Srpska," Banja Luka, is an institution with a comprehensive internal organization, advanced technical and technological capabilities, scientific research, and professional expertise. It serves as a scientific research, consulting, project, and educational institution in the fields of occupational safety, environmental quality protection and enhancement, fire and explosion protection, and chemical management.
