RES2FIRE PROJECT PRESENTED AT THE FIRESAFE JEZERO WORKSHOP
During the workshop held within the “FireSafe Jezero: Comprehensive Landscape Fire Prevention and Education Initiative” project, participants were introduced to the transnational project RES2FIRE, implemented under the IPA ADRION programme and focused on developing integrated solutions for wildfire prevention and risk reduction.

Wildfires pose a major challenge for the IPA ADRION region, as they reduce forest areas, threaten biodiversity, and significantly contribute to CO₂ emissions into the atmosphere. The RES2FIRE project aims to develop shared methods and approaches for fire prevention through vegetation fuel management and natural forestry interventions that increase ecosystem resilience to fires.
Through activities such as risk mapping, pilot actions, damage assessment tools, and the development of risk mitigation plans, the project provides concrete measures for protecting fire-prone areas. A key strength of the project lies in its transnational approach, which enables cooperation among various institutions, exchange of best practices, and the application of innovative solutions across the region.
The presentation of the RES2FIRE project at the FireSafe Jezero workshop contributed to a better understanding of modern wildfire risk management methods and demonstrated how regional experience can support the development of local protection strategies. This project directly contributes to more effective nature protection and to strengthening the capacity of local communities to adapt to climate change.
The organizers emphasized that connecting with initiatives such as RES2FIRE significantly enhances the FireSafe Jezero project and supports the creation of a long-term resilient and safe community in the Municipality of Jezero.
